Ladies, we'd love to have you join us for a fun event and day on mountain bikes with other ladies. Introductory (novice) to intermediate level of trail rides and more!
Calls were exchanged early in the morning...Cincinnati got slammed by Mother Nature. However at John Bryan, though it was lightly rainy til 10:00, Diana said the rain would stop soon. We did extra long introductions and by the time our 4 Cincinnati ladies (finished breakfast) arrived they also brought the sunshine! Thanks ladies!! Diana had a great agenda of skills to learn, relearn and enjoy. Jeni Rosen (Dirty Divas) recently certified IMIC instructor came to share her new coaching skills. Between Diana and Jeni they were able to keep everyone encouraged and entertained all day. The schedule was adapted a bit so til the grass dried there were gear, brake, shifting, and BIG hill drills on the park road down back on Snake Pit. The grass dried for bike handling skills on obstacles that Doug and Karen built, then we headed by skill level to the trails. The trails were fine for the most part, but the areas that weren't became a good learning tools, dealing with slick corners, slick roots, and when to walk a bigger mud area.
There were 20 participants, plus 7 instructors/ride leaders. It was a great cross section of 7 Columbus, 5 Cincinnati, 1 Defiance, 2 Chillecothe and the rest the Dayton/Springfield area ladies. There were 3 first time on dirt trails who turned into converts! The group was also a nice combination of skill levels ranging from never been on the trail, been on the trail a few times, riding a couple years to riding for as long as they could remember. Every skill level had something to share and something to learn. Roll:, Bicycle Stop, MetroParks and MVMBA had lots of goodies and raffle prizes.
Thanks to all who came. I enjoyed meeting all of you and glad you left lovin' dirt trails. Thanks also to Karen and Doug for early morning set up, Steve Priest, Steve Betts, Wes and Shane for 'guy help' like set up, onsite repairs, ride sweeps and event take down. Thanks to Diana, Jeni, Christine, Jamie, Barb, and Christina who shared their trail knowledge, encouragement, served as ride guides, and filled the snack table with lots of goodies. Christina took lots of pictures, she'll post a link to them (mtbohio.org in the ladies lounge)soon, as will I post mine.
It was a pleasure organizing a fun day and sharing a great time on our bikes. I sincerely appreciate everyone's support and help, without all of you it never would have been so much fun.
If you missed it ... stay tuned for follow up rides.
